They can't be imported due to Bush's Dad instating the 1989 import ban on military rifles. It is a executive order, so it's not likely "W" is going to repeal it. The only other option is Sig in Exeter NH building one here in the states, which would get around the goofy ban. But hell will freeze over before they do that. Your only other choice is to find one of those Sig 550s former LEO guns floating around for $4500 or so, and see if you convert it. I have no idea how you would though. All other 5.56s pale in comparison to the AR-15 IMHO.
