How does the DD 9mm PCC SBR rate against other options in the marketplace today? With the CZ magazines and a ~$1600 street price, it certainly looks tempting to me. The B&T APC9 is ~twice the cost, and an HK SP-5 can occasionally be seen at a similar cost. The CZ Scorpion never really appealed to me for some reason, but it seems to be the cost winner overall in most markets. After an initial Beretta PMX splash, it seems to have fallen out of the marketplace. For a 9mm PCC SBR, what would you get and why? TIA, Sid |
| I have one, as well as many other SBR PCCs. It’s OK and well made, but I think overpriced for a direct blowback AR9. The hydraulic buffer doesn’t do much IMHO. I also found the heavy trigger a little disappointing for a $1600 gun. For other recommendations, I like my Stribog SP9A3 best of all, even a bet better than the Kuna. You can get different locking blocks for the Stribog to better tune it for suppressed use, and HBI makes a lot of useful upgrades. You can even get a lower that takes Scorpion mags, if that’s important to you. |

I prefer the Stribog slightly over the Kuna. I think the Stribog has a better trigger, and a softer recoil, even with the stock 45 degree locking block as compared to the Kuna. With the ability to reduce recoil with different locking blocks (something the Kuna doesn’t have right now), it’s even better. I like the some of the ergos of the Kuna better, like the bolt release and safety, although it really needs the HBI reduced spring because the safety is way too stiff out of the box. The backup flip up sights on the Kuna are also far better, and the Kuna has built in rear QD points, which the Stribog doesn’t have. The Kuna has a lot of positives, including cheaper mags, but for shooting experience, especially suppressed, I give a slight nod to the Stribog. But, that’s just my personal opinion, FWIW. I bought both the Nexus lower for the Kuna and the Lingle lower for the Stribog, but never bothered to use either. I guess I just don’t have a burning desire to require Scorpion mags for everything. The latest generation of Kuna and Stribog mags seems to have pretty much solved any magazine related feeding issues that either had. Also, I kind of like to keep my guns factory when possible.   |

Ive enjoyed mine since purchasing. The biggest reason I went with this was it being the same manual of arms as an AR-15. The cheap CZ mags are definitely a plus as well. I run mine suppressed 100% of the time with the YHM R9, Ive had perfect reliabilty with it so no complaints there. Its also decently accurate. I went direct thread with the suppressor after trying tri-lug and having terrible accuracy. Now for the not so good....the trigger is extremely heavy....I want to change it, I know there are options out there but I worry about hammer failure, Ive read with the weight of the carrier the hammer can snap....its on my list if I can find a deal. The trigger is so bad in my opinion, anything would be better. Also, The buffer system is extremely twangy. You can hear/feel it with every...single...shot. Ive let others shoot it and thats the first thing they notice...the BOING! Would I buy it again, 100%. |
