Finished our prototype barrels for the Colt 1908 Pocket Hammerless yesterday and took them to the range today. Functioned perfectly, even with hollowpoints, both threaded and non threaded barrels.  I need to get a Nano though, the ti-rant is too big for these pistols.  Should start first regular production run next week, will add shoulder to the threads on future barrels, was more interested in getting everything working correctly first

Nice ! Are these going to drop in or require some minor fitting ? I guess you could use a 9MM suppressor so probably 1/2 X 28.

Thank you sir.  They are 1/2 x 28 and I am using the 9mm ti-rant on it right now.  I have 8 of these pistols and the barrels have all dropped in so far but I can imagine if someone has a VGC one that was shot very little there could be the possibility of very light fitting required.  I do not want to go to far towards minimal tolerances as a lot of these guns have been fired a lot and I would like to avoid sloppy fitment in those pistols

Are you going to sell some or just made them for yourself ?

I'm going to make a limited number of them and put them on my website if there appears to be demand for them.  I was initially thinking of doing 25 non threaded and 10 threaded and seeing how it went.

Don't post your website here unless you plan on getting a dealer account. You could get locked.

I will not and did not have any intention of doing so.  I just posted them here to see how much interest they may bring to see if my quantities were way off high/low.  I do appreciate the advice though and will not break forum rules

Just finished up the 32 acp barrels for the 1903 , threaded and non.  The 32 acp is super quiet, as would be expected

As an owner of a 1919 mfd. 1903, those are fantastic.

Glad to see these great little guns getting some love.

Can't wait to get mine in!

Actually technically I can... I'm still waiting on a form 4 to clear for something to put on it

I didn't understand them being set aside, one of the reasons I went forward with this.  I cannot think of a nicer pistol from the era

The thread shoulder on the barrel should probably be moved slightly forward (.05")as a step that is fully round in front of the forward slide interfacing lug on the bottom of the barrel.  Not all cans interface the muzzle face.  Some need to contact the thread shoulder.  .438" thread length and a thread shoulder behind it that stays in front of the slide during the slide cycle is important to functioning with most 9mm silencers.

To see the machined barrel is pretty cool.  It's a neat project.

Awesome!!!!

This is freaking great man.

If I had a 1908 I would most certainly pick one up from you..... and now I have a big placed on GB. I hate this forum sometimes

Im glad to see people out there doing this sort of thing

If you ever feel like getting rid of that blaster give me a shout.

Id love that thing

it has been moved forward of the slide by extending the "keystone".  The suppressors will not impact the slide.  The top pics were just the proto barrels with no shoulder. Sharp eyes

After fiddling with it for a bit - if anyone's on the fence about one of these...in my opinion - go for it (and I did). Mainly for two reasons - where else are you going to find one for .32 or .380? And...the customer service of the company that sells these (if you google for the barrel, you'll find them) is fantastic. I'm not sure they made any money on me, let's put it that way If a mod thinks I'm shilling or anything I'll gladly take it offline and/or explain my case. This isn't exactly a high-volume seller (how many people are really going to put a can on a 110-year old Colt? Really?) so I think it's safe, but who can tell these days

Just be aware it might require a little bit of fitting...remember these things are upwards of 100+ years old now depending on when yours was made, and it was largely hand-fitted at creation. The makers of the barrel will help walk you through if you think you need to make some fitting adjustments though. Since it's a fixed barrel in the frame (no need to worry about lockup or timing or anything)...once it's in, it's in, so there's a lot less to worry about when fitting it, and that's if you even need to...I have a habit of picking out the one-off weirdly fit guns from the lineup, so it's entirely possible mine was a one-off

I'd take a photo of mine but I don't have a clean place to photograph and the light is shit today

I agree sir. I am going to produce a small faux maxim style suppressor to compliment the barrels for display purposes very soon

That's why I have an AAC Illusion coming...it's about as close to a Maxim-style eccentric can that there is today, short of an original

The repro .32 guns are already out, but they are not getting great reviews.  IMHO it is better to buy a vintage one, cheaper and better looking

I have my barrel in hand, but the gun isn't shipping to my FFL until next week.

Thank you very much Zephyr, it was a fun project with surprising results.  I would have never expected it to make as good of a host as it did but this pistol has certainly stood the test of time. JMB was certainly a genius

Finally had a chance to take some pictures and go to the range with it

Before shooting:

After 66 rounds (box of 50, and I found the remnants of a box that had 2 mags worth in it)

POI didn't really change switching to the new barrel, which is frankly awesome. I had a couple of misfeeds which I attribute to a 100 year old recoil spring, 100 year old mag springs, and frankly it just hasen't been shot in probably close to a decade anyway I should pick up a new recoil spring for it, especially when my first pistol can clears and I suppress it...
