I am on active duty over seas Here are my questions:

What forms exactly do I need?

Does the NRA cover membership to a gun club?

What MUST I have when I goto the store?

What should I know?

All Im looking for is a nice looking shooter with dark wood Garand and Carbine. And 10 cases of ammo each. Hopefully they will have some in stock In April.

Eligibility Requirements
Forms needed
NRA membership does NOT qualify for club membership, but membership to the Garand Collectors Association does.
Here's the GCA Application form. It's painless (except for the $25 annual dues) and there is a pretty decent quarterly news publications with good articles included in your membership.
I'd get all your forms filled out and sent in along with copies of your proof of citizenship and military ID. Your military ID will take care of a number of other requirements. Get everything filled out and sent in asap (including your GCA app). It takes them a while to process all the paperwork. That way when you go to the North or South store, you should be gtg, all you'll need is proof of who you are and $$$, everything else should be in the system as long as you give them enough time. When you send in your forms, let them know you're currently overseas and ask them for confirmation you're in the system before you show up at one of the stores.
One thing about the CMP, their customer service is second to none.  They will bend over backwards to help you.
As far as what you should know, just know that the CMP will be unbelievably helpful. Know that the Service Grade Garand is by far the best deal going. They have some fine examples of post war Springfield Armory Garands available right now.
As far as carbines go, there aren't many left. The only service grades that can be ordered are Bavarians....I don't think the stores have anything but Bavarians for sale in service grades, but I don't know that for a fact. I've never been to either store, but I've had quite a few nice rifles and carbines shipped. Their weekly online auction has some nice carbines but they are bringing big bucks. Ammo is currently not available but should be very soon. Prices and quantities have not yet been announced.
Another good source of info is the CMP forums:

Hope this helps

Being in the military qualifies for the gun club requirement. All you need is your military ID and birth certificate if you are an E-5 or below. If you're a SNCO or Officer then you just need your ID. Service Grade is what I'd recommend... best bang for you buck. You coming back from Germany in April? I'm headed there then

I don't recall seeing anything regarding rank, but yep, military is all the requirements you need.

Im heading there sometime after Apr 1st. Thanks for your help I really hope they have ammo. My brother is also in the army so Im thinking of having him fill out some paper work so I can get twice as much ammo. Was the like 10 cases of each type of ammo? How much was ammo before it sold out?

Thank you for your service.

Active military service will meet the "affiliated club"  and the "marksmanship" requirement(s). However, it will not meet the "citizenship" requirement. You will need to provide a copy of your birth certificate along with a copy of your military ID. You do not have to be a US citizen to serve in the US military; but you do need to be a US citizen to purchase from the CMP. Hope this clarifies things. Good luck with your purchase(s); hope you find a good shooter
