Can someone school me on what I need to get a M1Garand through the CMP program, I have a honorable discharge from the USMC would this help in any way?

Absolutely.

You have to prove citizenship, marksmanship, and membership. A DD214 would prove marksmanship. For citizenship, use your birthcertificate, passport, etc. and for membership, there are several CMP affliated organizations you can join for $20 or less...along with veteran organizations (VFW, AL).

Gather those documents and run, don't walk, to the nearest CMP store and get you a rifle or two or three.....

Absolutely! You will find that you probably cannot stop at just one. Do not forget the HXP .30-06 either.

So being a member of the Amercian Legion, along with DD214 and Passport would let me walk in and purchase a rifle?

I have a question.

Can I use a legible photocopy of my state issued, and embossed, birth certificate or do I have to send in an embossed, state issued birth certificate?

Legible copy is fine. I sent a copy of my C&R, a copy of my birth certificate and a copy of my Garand Owners Association card.
