My Mod 9 FS has lived its life on a Scorpion carbine using the 1/2x28 piston mount with fixed barrel spacer. It has been trouble free when used in this manner. I recently moved this Mod 9 over to a handgun and have swapped in the included piston spring. Accuracy was absolutely horrible. Also noticed the red dot was on the target while the suppressor was pointed 3 feet to the left of the target at 20 yards. I also noticed some finish was missing from the end cap. It was not a strike, but the bullets were clearly rubbing on the ID of the end cap. I tried two different 9 mm hosts, both have factory 1/2x28 barrels. Same problem. I also tried an HK USP 9 SD with the 13.5x1 LH piston. Same thing. I fully cleaned the suppressor, mount, pistons and spring and relubed with white lithium grease. Same problem. I went back to the 1/2x28 piston and fixed barrel spacer for the scorpion and had perfect accuracy with no end cap kisses. So far, I've emailed CGS and got no response. I've tried calling CGS and the phone rings but nobody picks up. From what I can tell, CGS Group is still in business. Hopefully we can get this can sorted out as I'd like to run it on a handgun. Feel free to chime in if anyone has tips or tricks for this issue. |

I've read online that end cap kisses have been well documented with Mod 9 cans. The consensus seems to be related to the piston spring being too light and the end cap aperture being too tight. Possible solutions include opening the Mod9 end cap diameter a bit, buying a Nautilus 45 end cap and/ or getting a Griffin Armament piston spring Can anyone confirm if the Griffin Armament piston spring will fit a CGS piston and also if it will cure my described problem? |

I had the same issues. Only solution that worked for me was to get a replacement booster spring and to use the Griffin EZ lock. I sent the suppressor back to CGS multiple times and changed pistons with no improvement. I also sent a barrel back to the Glock for inspection to see if maybe that was the issue, but the barrel was perfect. The issues were not isolated to that barrel either. I never figured it out and at this point I just assume it’s a flaw in the booster design. My Mod 9 had no problems with using a 3 lug though. For warranty I think you have to purchase the warranty service on the website and they will send you a shipping label to get a quick response. That’s what I did. They never responded to emails or gave me any info on the repairs which appeared to be all new internals and a new piston each time. When I did it they were charging $10 but I just checked the website and it appears to be $100 for warranty service now which is silly. Prob cheaper to just get the spring and EZ lok. For whatever reason, that made it at least useable for me. |

I had this same problem with mine. Thankfully this was 6-7 years ago before their customer service *completely* went to shit. I sent it in and they sent it back and it was still doing the same thing when I got it back so I kind of just gave up. Same deal with mine direct thread or 3 lug it doesn’t do it but trying to use the booster on any pistol it’ll do it and groups are like 2 feet at 10 yards |

| I had the same problem with mine. I tried replacing the booster spring with no change. On a whim I tried spacing the baffles with the cuts 180 apart (staggered) for each baffle. It went from 12+ inch groups and keyholes to 4 inch groups at 25 yards. Not sure exactly why it worked but the same thing worked on a form 1 rimfire can a long time ago. I guess it has to do with the way the gas affects the bullet in or when leaving the can. It may not work for you but it’s an easy thing to at least try. |

UPDATE: For anyone who is following along or has interest in the the Mod9 suppressor. Running the can with the baffles oriented 180 degrees out from each other made a huge difference. I'm still using the factory supplied booster spring and 9mm end cap. I did not get a single end cap kiss, and it's shooting a very tight group with zero fliers. My Griffin Armament booster spring is still in transit, but the can runs perfectly now. Thanks to all who have posted. In this case, alternating the baffles certainly made a positive change in this case. |
