| I finally got around to loading some 50bmg and now I have seating issues. Can't get the CCI 35 primers(brass colored flat style) to seat completely flush with the case. I measured the primer height and primer pocket depth and they are nearly exact. It looks as though the primer anvil is protruding some. loading on a Lee .50bmg press using the primer arm. The primer pockets have been reamed but I still have to knock off the crimped edge a little, primer installs very easily and then bottoms completely out but is still sticking past the case head a few thousandth's. Any ideas, thanks? Oh, and brass is LC 40's era once fired. |

You should be able to use a uniformer to get to the maximum depth.

I uniform all my .223 and .308 to make sure the primers are seated to the maximum depth. Kind of a pain, but you can do it while you watch TV. |

I suggest getting a K&M 50 BMG Primer pocket uniformer to cut your primer pockets deeper. It doesn't cut the holes in wider, just deeper.
Here's how you get one. K&M Services (Ken Markle) 5430 Salmon Run Road Dover, PA 17315 Phone: (717) 292-3175 He doesn't have a website. Just give him a call. His case length trimmer is also first rate, indexes on the case head, and can be easily converted to power with a low speed drill or power screwdriver. The trimmer trims, chamfers, & deburs all in one step. Probably about the most popular case trimmer in use with FCSA folks I know. Also, how are you seating primers with a LEE 50 Press and a "Primer Arm"? The kit doesn't include a primer arm for 50 BMG. The primer arm is for small and large primers, not CCI#35s. It has a priming stem that sits in the hole in the shellholder on the ram. -David Edgewood, NM |
