Gonna buy my first .22LR suppressor for a Ruger 22/45 Ruger 10/22 with a Franklin CZ royal If had to get one for all applications what should I get. |
![]() Failed To Load Title Really the only knock against the Scorpius is the extra effort to clean, since you can’t take it apart. But the newer cleaners should largely solve that problem. It’s a fantastic little can. |

Silencerco Switchback, DA Mask, Rugged Oculus, GA Checkmate HD, OCL Ti, or Thunderbeast TD 22. These are all tried and true solid performers, no guess work. Any of the above will be good to go and super quiet. I own a DA Mask and a Silencerco Switchback. I cannot tell the difference between the two on a pistol or rifle. Both are very high quality and very quiet. |
|
I share my Silencer Co Sparrow across 4 or 5 .22 hosts and I have Zero complaints and it gets tons of compliments. Took it to my Sons a few weeks ago for a shoot. He had me and about 5 of his friends (all mid 20s, early 30s, younger hipper folks, LOL) and we shot for about 4 hours. At the end, I was like Ohh, I want to shoot a few rounds out of my Bolt gun. A Savage Mark II FVSR with just a scope and the Sparrow... I was shooting Gemtec Subs. All the guys were like NO F'in Way, thats a pellet gun. Actually one said his pellet gun was much louder. They all had to take a turn. Two of the guys said they were going to look at Cans the next week as they had to have one after shooting. So, I recommended my two favorite shops and took the time to explain the NFA hoops and hurdles to them. |

Quoted: Was in same boat and went with Banish 22. All titanium and 4oz. Good reviews. Don’t buy anything from silencer central. So many great 22 cans that cost less preform better and care about the second amendment. Otter creek labs titanium is great on pistols and dead air mask for rifles. But honestly they are all super quiet. |

I didn't Google "Does SC care about 2nd Amendment?" before ordering. Can was $550 including the $200 stamp. All reviews I could find on the Banish 22 were very solid. Entire process from order to delivery = 7 weeks. So far it's been a positive experience. 1st can. That's what my mileage looks like. |

Well maybe next time you should consider it. They want the NFA intact so they can make some extra money. But they were a dhit company way before that. @SilencerCentral |

Agree with the anti-Silencer Central sentiment. When I got my first can (DA Mask) I called them and immediately got the used car salesmen vibe. I went through silencer shop and had a better experience. I’ve been using them in conjunction with the local range in a member of. While the Banish 22 sounds good, it is way over priced. Also it’s 2025 avoid monocore cans, most of them use older tech that doesn’t sound as good. |

Just to briefly expand my opinion #7 in the "Silencer Central Issues" thread: The Banish is very close to the late, great, AAC Spectre 2, but with the ugly Silencerco Spectre II style rear cap, a front cap requiring their proprietary triangular tool for removal, and does have FN 5.7 ammo approval. |

It's hard to buy a bad 22 can these days. Any of the above ones mentioned would be great You can also browse this subsection and find tons of similar threads. My favorite pistol/suppressor combo is p322 w/ da mask My favorite rifle/suppressor combo is my AR22 SBR with rugged oculus. |
| Our Vidar22 is +/- a db or two on any given day of the top performers and with extremely low FRP. It's a clone of the legendary Element 2 and performs at the same level. |

It really is a great can and I’ve been very happy with mine. I have an Element 2 and someday I’ll need to shoot the two cans side by side. Great price too. |

Quoted: Im happy with my DA mask and 22/45, Sparrow lives on my 10/22. That being said, modern tech has surpassed the old stainless and aluminum cans. Dunno what ‘new’ can I would recommend. Hux? B&T? Love my CAT products, maybe a Short Round? I'm here with .22 silencers. I have an Oculus, Element 2, and Spectre II. I'd buy the Oculus and Element again if there weren't 3D rimfire cans. I'd take another free Spectre, but would probably take my money elsewhere if I had to pay for the Spectre. It's not bad, just not as nice sound or package as the other 2 mentioned. I would be leading OP down the wrong path if I didn't mention just how good the 3D rimfire silencers can be. If I was shopping today, I'd primarily be looking at 3D cans, and I think the top of my list would be: CAT - SR CAT - Ben FOR/Mercy - Pluto Hux - Flow 22 I'm sure there are others that would qualify for my list, I just don't know about them as the space is changing rapidly. I still want to pick up a Vidar because I do love my Element 2, but after that, I don't plan on buying any more traditionally baffled .22 cans unless something groundbreaking comes out with traditional baffles. |

Quoted: I still can’t believe Silencerco discontinued the Warlock and Specter .22 and kept the Sparrow. Weren't the Warlock and Spectre SWR designs, and the Sparrow SiCo's first product? Kinda makes some sense they'd want to keep production going on their first silencer. |

But i shoot my Sparrow a lot on a Dvage bolt action FVSR or somthing with CCI standards. WAY quieter that a pelet gun. Sometimes i think it is quiter than Hollywood. Sometimes i do hear it a little if there is a surface around to reflect noise or if bullet impact hits something. But it honestly sounds like the firing pin dropping sometimes. |

I have been looking at another a 22 can. Mostly what has already been suggested. I looked hard atthe OCL Ti. One can is VERY similarwith a few advantagesis the Diligent Defense Road Hunter. I forget what i liked better about the DD. Maybe it was that both ends of the supressor has small wrench flats or maybe bothe ends unscrew completely. Sometimes details like that matter if things get stuck. Watch some disassembly videos of the ocl and then the DD. They are bothe very similar on paper but have a few design differences. I have not seen a lot of reviews about the dd road hunter. But the dd Enticer series are VERY highly regarded and post some of the best numbers. |

I have the DA Mask and OCL Ti and both are great suppressors. They both sounds great, have little to no FRP, are well made and easy to take apart, clean and reassemble... Basically everything you want from a rimfire suppressor. The OCL Ti will be lighter but being Ti, it will get super hot, super fast but it will also cool faster. The Mask is built like a tank so it is heavier but its not "heavy" so don't let people fool you into believing that nonsense. I would have a very hard time deciding which one to keep if I could only have 1 of them? I guess for FA/FRP/Binary use I'd lean towards the Mask but I don't think you could go wrong with either of them? Quoted: Our Vidar22 is +/- a db or two on any given day of the top performers and with extremely low FRP. It's a clone of the legendary Element 2 and performs at the same level. 1. The baffles are not shielded so if you let them go too long without cleaning, the baffles can get stuck requiring a baffle pusher tool to remove them. Not a big deal and the AAC version came with the tool but not sure if the Vidar does or not? 2. The baffles are not keyed nor do they lock together making reassembly a little trickier. Neither of those things are show stoppers but it is why I prefer the Mask and Ti. |

I think most of the newer ones are fine and they're all quiet enough to make you smile. The only ones from personal experience I'd steer clear of is the Silencerco Sparrow and Q El Camino. The Sparrow is okay, it gets a lot of love due to its clamshell monocore design being easy to take apart, but it suffers from first round pop on a pistol. It's better on a rifle but at the same time it's outperformed by basically everything that's been released in the last five to seven years or so. The El Camino also has some first round pop on a pistol but it settles in and gets quieter after that. This is a subjective thing but I also think it's kind of an ugly and stupid looking can. |

Really like the Vidar, it punches above its weight. Dont like the sparrow cause of the FRP, but on rifles its not bad. Honestly, Dead Air Mask, TBAC 22 Takedown or Vidar, you arent going to be disappointed. Presented without comment. https://youtu.be/PWGaJ1yPsOg |

Although I don't own one, this would get my vote as I like light cans. You really can't go wrong w/ 22 cans as they are all pretty effective, essentially you're picking features at some point (take-down, clewaning, weight, FRP, size etc...) I'd keep the can under 4oz. Mustang, OCL, TBA, Hansohn, GCS, and a few more i can't recall at this time. Bonus: the B&T Tiger X-Print is about 4oz and can take limited use on 556, although it is pretty high back pressure so best for bolt 556, I have one one the way. I think the Kraken(?) is also 556 friendly and less backpressure |

Getting a 2nd 22 can as well. My first is an old AAC Element and I want something a little more versatile. I was told the safest best is a DA Mask but then was getting the Hux Flow 22 and the SiCo Switchback 2 recommended as well. Anyone have any experience with the Switchback? |

|
Quoted: Anyone have any experience with the Switchback? I will have an OCL Titanium 22 arrive next week, but currently have a YHM 22 Phantom, Aero Tephra .22, and the SiCo Switchback. The Switchback isn't a lightweight suppressor at full size, but it's quite versatile. Yes, the smallest configuration is "cute" The only dislike is the threaded end isn't "through threaded", meaning if you want to thread it onto the typically longer AR .22LR variants, you'll need the suppressor spacer to properly fit. Both the YHM and Aero fit the longer threaded barrels just fine. Mine will probably live on a Ruger Charger braced "pistol" as it's a very good long-gun (or longer barreled pistol) suppressor where the full size weight isn't noticed as much. Overall, it's a good addition to anyone's .22LR suppressor collection and gives you some fun options to play with if that's something you're wanting to do (and I am). ROCK6 |
|
I forgot to mention the ECCO Machine Salamander. Maybe not the top 1% on a pistol (don't know as I have not tried it), but awesome on a bolt 22 rifle. Extremely quiet with the longer barrel, same diameter as a bull barrel on most rifles or a Ruger pistol, it almost disappears on the end of my rifle. If I didn't tell you it was there you may not know. Light, effective, and not expensive. I own more than a few ECCO products and will recommend them every time. |

The banish 22 does sound good, not a bad can at all just don’t like SC is all
