the zero tolerance knives are nice, i like how they use Tungsten DLC to coat their blades, it'll hold up MUCH BETTER to wear than the Cerakote-like coating that Benchmade commonly uses. I'm not a big fan of recurve blades, seem harder to sharpen.
That said, I was in the market for a new folder recently and I picked up the following from Midway USA for $154, pretty good value imo. Benchmade Barrage |

I like the Benchmade Griptilian line as well. My Mini-Griptilian has been a great knife for eight years.
A guy I work with has the Barrage and it is a nice knife if you like something with an assist. A Zero Tolerance may be a nice knife but they don't have the Axis Lock which is a big reason I like the Benchmades. |

The griptilian series of Benchmades are probably the best bang for the buck out of their lineup. That's the line I was looking at. Thoughts about the 556 Mini Griptilian model? Ok, I have it narrowed down to the 556 (Drop point) or 557 (Tanto) Mini Griptilian model. If it were you, what would you chose? |

Quoted: The drop point, I have both and the drop point seems to hold up better then the Tanto in everyday use from my experience.Quoted: Quoted: The griptilian series of Benchmades are probably the best bang for the buck out of their lineup. | Having gone through a number of Benchmades, I'd say the 710 in D2 is the "flagship" of their line. It's hard to describe until you use one for a while, but it just feels 'alive.' |

I bought a number of Benchmade knives, including a Griptilian, an onslaught, and two mini onslaughts. Overall love mine, though your mileage may vary
The onslaught is huge! Awesomely sharp knife, huge blade, but fits in the pocket really easily. It looks like a normal folder until you deploy it and see that you actually were carrying a sword. Sent this one to a buddy who was deploying as it was the one he wanted. The mini onslaught is definitely more manageable, it's a great knife with a good sized blade and a comfortable handle. I kept one of these for myself and sold the other to a chap on this forum. Very easy to deploy and overall a great knife The griptilian is definitely an awesome knife and I can see why there is so much buzz about this. Very sturdy with a good blade and awesome grip. I sold this just to recoup some of my money but if I could have I would have kept it. The only thing I didn't care for was the handle material, it felt "cheap", but I'm pretty sure everyone who has one can assure you that it is gtg and won't fail you. |
| I have somewhat sweaty palms and I kind of get a chuckle out of the "GRIP"tilian. In my hands, held with normal pressure, it feels slippery and on the edge of control. Rough anodized, G10, or Spyderco Endura type of plastic scales feel much more secure in my hand. Even smooth anodize with inserts feels better to me. Like the BM 960. |
