I’m using an FDE brace, grip, handstop, and rail covers, and am going to give the whole thing a basecoat of an FDE-ish shade of paint. When I saw the upper receiver on sale for $30 I figured WTF, it’s a blem and it’s already close to what I plan on for a basecoat anyway. I can’t find a blem on it anywhere, and the anodizing is just too clean and sparkly to paint over  If it turns out wonky at least the stuff I don’t paint will be roughly the same color as my base coat and I can just paint those parts after the fact. It’s also just a little different and that’s part of the fun of it for me

Finally got around to painting. The first attempt IMO looked like hammered dogshit  I sponge painted it and just did a horrible job. I gave it some love with a scotchbrite pad and started over, and I’m happier with the results. I mentioned in an earlier post I wanted to keep the anodized FDE upper as is, and I left the grip and brace alone also. Some the veg from the yard that I used as stencils gave a pretty cool Kryptek looking pattern you can see on the buffer tube, and I think the brownish heavy coloring turned out well with the FDE upper and furniture. Laid down a base coat on the latest victim, erm I mean canvas  Theres a barrel in there somewhere lol (8.3" 300blk) Again, have no idea how I want to do this one. Thinking some Desert camo theme , just because I can... Not like theres any deserts in WI lol Stay Tuned
