Hey all,

Was looking at getting an SEF polymer lower but I can only find F/A ones online that are like $300.00. How hard is it to convert it to Semi? I know it must be clipped and pinned, but does clipping and pinning modify the internals at all?

I know it's illegal to use the FA trigger pack, so WTF do I do with it? Throw it away??? and where would I get a semi-pack? Or can the FA be converted to a semi trigger pack?

Thanks
Brock

Yeah, I already viewed that one. My main problem is, I'm thinking about just getting a FA lower and having it clipped and pinned, but am not sure if any of the internals need to be swapped out, like taking out the full-auto trigger pack and putting in a semi-only, OR if you can modify the FA to be semi-only...

Still lost, but thanks for the help!

the auto lower can be modified to semi only. you will need to cut out the front lower portion and enlarge the auto sear hole so it cannot be used. theres some other things that need to be done, like installing an overtravel pin, and I think theres more, but thats all I can think of right now.

most of the semi packs in rifles and pistols started life as an auto pack.

the biggest thing you will need to watch out for even after all the auto goodies are removed, is your parts count. using a real german pack is one less US part

If you decide to ditch that auto pack, let me know, I might know someone who wants it.

also check with Bill Springfield, whatnow on ar15, he does excellent trigger work on HK rifles and clones.

Hey man, thanks for the response! I don't suppose you'd have / know where to get plans to do that at huh? My US parts are going to be my receiver (it's a Toad special, but hey it's actually a high quality flat), Surefire front handgrip and maybe something trivial like a tritium front sight post.

So how come the FBI lowers are so damn expensive? Example:

BUT, the SEF F/A lower is like $300

SEF Lower

I'm sure it's not that much to get it clipped and pinned...

the link to the first one looks like an offering from adam webber, good guy to deal with. that one is also an ambi pack therefore the price is higher.

the second one could quite possibly be the most expensive of all packs, due to the seller, and the fact that you may not ever recieve your goods. I dont have any personal experience with him, but search dana reed and you will get your answer.

there is also a navy style lower (shaped like the first one) but it accepts standard sef style guts, rather than the uber expensive ambi pack.

like this one

it is one from a g3, but you cut off the rear tail, clip the front, and modify the auto parts to semi, you wont be into it for near as much $$.

yeah i just used that for example, I'll get everything off Adam Webber. It's just, HK shit is really expensive, so I was thinking if I could shave $100 off my complete kit by modifying a FA pack I would. It's $1200 for a kit off Adam, $485 for the receiver FLAT that I already own, and another $1000 for Jayson at IGF to form my receiver flat, assemble and finish...

All in all, $2700 :(

If anyone knows of anyone that can assemble them cheaper but with good quality PLEASE let me know!! Pisses me off I bought a receiver flat off gunbroker for what I did, I see now the toad has formed and welded receivers on there for a tad bit less...

Might have to get one for the next build, just so I don't have to pay the $375 asking price for Jayson at IGF to bend and weld it which seems pretty expensive, but there were no formed uppers when I was in the market for one :(

Damn MP5's, I hate them! LOL, well at least my wallet and wife do!

Big50 appears to be back up and running, heard good things about him. When I have spoken with him, his rates appear to be more reasonable.

all you need is a cliped and pinned SEF or the navy style SEF(but not the picto, if you use a picto lower you need the trigger pack that goes with it, spendy) lower and longer selector, the C/P lowers(SEF, 0/1/25 etc) are $130-150, $50 for new selector.  You can use your current SA trigger pack, drops right in.
www.hkspecialist.net/clipped.htm

or RTG has these for $125, everything you need and nothing you don't
www.robertrtg.com/g3sefclippin.html

again, your SA trigger pack drops right in

for a 93/4 you need to cut off the 2nd pushpin on the rear, no biggy

I don't have a trigger pack and can't seem to find one on gunbroker or the EE or anything... So I'll probably have to just get one through Adam Webber...

Pimp, who is Big50??

Also, I would like to get a FA Sear in the future and want to be able to possibly swap it with the 2 MP5's i hope to build. One will be SEF, the other will be a Picto 4-pos lower... is that possible?? What SEAR maker can accomodate that, and obviously it can't be married to 1 rifle only. Hell, IF i can, i'll put the SEAR in a PTR-91 too when I get one so I can have full auto on all my HK rifles.

I don't think that sights count towards your US parts count
