I have owned a 740 NV weapon scope and was looking at buying the bigger 6X 760 model but was wondering just how much bigger/heavier the 760 is in person. I am going to mount the scope onto a custom built intergal suppressed bolt rifle with has a 20 barrel/tube so its a compact unit and was wondering if the 760 might be to large for such a setup as I haven't seen a 760 in person. Also is the Raptor 4X available to the commerical market at this time I have thought about going that route. Thanks for any info!

Hi Terry,  the D-760 is about a half pound heavier than the 740 and has a much larger objective lens. Obviously the ratio is no where near the size and weight difference between the Raptor 4x vs. a Raptor 6x. The D-760 is MUCH easier to lug around vs. a 6x Raptor which is a monster of a scope.

Also, the 4x Raptors are available for commercial sale as is the 6x.

I'd get another 740 if I were you. Don't get me wrong I love my 760, but I've hunted with a few people with 740's, and the 740 was quite a bit smaller and lighter than my scope.  Also the 740 fov is really nice once animals start running. Are you going to be running subs on your intregel build?

Here's a pic of my 760 sitting next my pvs-24 with a leupold 1.5x5.

Now here's a pic of the Noveske 6.8 with the pvs-24 with the 760 on top.  The 6.8 has a 12.5 barrel so it makes the scope look a little bigger than what it is.

Thanks for all the info good stuff above. I will be running subs in my rifle about 200 yards is my max range unless I go to supersonic rounds. I am leaning towards buying a  4X Raptor I had been saving some $$$ up for another thermal something like the  FLIR 307 but the PS32 is really doing me a great job and seems to handle 90% of what I do with a thermal anyway. I think I may be better to just buy a NV scope and stick with my PS32 for another year or two.

The 740 can be mounted a whole lot lower than a 760 due to the smaller objective; this is particularly important on a bolt gun.  Shooting subs at 200y max range, 4x would seem to be plenty mag.
