I'm trying to work up some loads for a 44 mag. in a Ruger Super Redhawk.
I have a Pact Pro chronograph set up 8 ft from the muzzle and when
I pull the trigger. The screen acts like its starting over then says "no data on start screen"
What do you think I'm doing wrong ?
I've used it for other stuff and its worked just fine but not for the 44.

Blast.  Need to shoot through a baffle at that range.  Cardboard about 3 feet square with a 6" hole to shoot through.  Place it about 3 feet from the muzzle.

Your screen is too close to the muzzle and powder and shockwave are disrupting the readings.  Try the more normal 15 ft distance and perhaps you will be successful.

I kind of thought that muzzle blast was the problem. It's the only thing that
makes sence.

Keith have you tried the cardboard trick before ?

Your too close to the screens  I have chronographed black powder loads using my Oehler with no problem. There is plenty smoke and fire to screw up a chronograph if it is to close.

Move the chronograph back to at least 15 feet first.

I've had similar problems with mine on sunny days.  It kept giving me a "no shot start" error message.  It could be you're too close but I had mine with the cables stretched right out and got the same error.

Yep.  .45 Super.  Think compressed Blue Dot behind a 200 grain JHP.  

I didn't want to hit the screens and I was getting 400 FPS.  Found an old IPSC target with the center shot out.  Shot through it and got 1250 FPS.  More like it.

This is the advice I got from PACT several years ago.  Stretch the cables all the way out and place the timer on a separate table.  If you place the timer on the bench you are shooting from, recoil will "bump" it and cause a false reading.
