Hi all, I'll be hosting Jack Leuba in Reno, NV for a pair of SR-25 DRCC classes at the end of September. The dates are Sept. 27/28 and 29/30, two 2-day classes back to back. This is THE class to go to if you're a SR-25 owner, although other platforms are also welcome! DRCC is a great class. I’ve been to the last two and it’s clear that Jack and Jeremy continue to work to evolve the class with each iteration. They do that from curriculum to facilities to competition. What DRCC is not - an SR-25 only class. While it’s Jack and we all know where he works, there is 0 requirement for an SR-25 to attend the class. The guy who won the competition in my class did so with a Larue and a Dead Air Nomad L can. There was a JP gun on the line next to me, a Seekins Precision gun, the Larue, and a LMT MARS-H in my class of 10. Of course there are SR-25s littered throughout. And if you want to learn the history of and more importantly how to run a SR-25, this is the class you want. It’s doubtful anyone knows more about it than Jack. And if they do, they aren’t easily accessible and able to teach to competently run your SR-25. You don’t even have a requirement to bring a large frame, short action gas gun. It makes it easier for sure, but as long as your rig is capable of 3 yards to 800 yards you won’t be hindered in the class. What DRCC is - a great effing time. Two guys who have forgotten more about shooting and more about shooting large frame, short action guns come break it down nice and easy. They walk through setting up rifles, the body mechanics of building good, reliable, and repeatable shots. They do that in all of the commonly approached positions for competition or professionally depending on how you employ the rifle. They ease into ballistics, ballistic calculators, reading wind, and truing data. And they let you shoot. A lot. Jack is always conscientious about not overheating the big rigs and damaging barrels, but the drills are designed to balance repetition and quality. And sometimes, baby, you just let ‘em eat. The class is kept fun, drills are spaced to let you have time to shoot, let the gun cool down, and let some mental processing occur. The range we were at this time was excellent. The crew that owns and runs it were gracious hosts who made us feel at home. They have steel everywhere and a variety of positions from which to shoot. I think we ranged a target or two over 2k yards while on the range. Most important in the feedback or endorsement of the class is the people. The types of guys that have been at the 3 DRCC courses I’ve seen have been awesome. Bringing guns that work 3 yards to 800 yards reliably tends to bring folks who have spent some time in the shooting community, who are familiar with safe and competent operation of firearms, and those who are interested in getting better and helping the other hombres in the class get better. As long as I’m welcome and can physically be there, I will attend everyone I can because I pick up new stuff each time I hear Jack and Jeremy present the information. And at worse, you spend a weekend in the mountains, shooting big guns with cool dudes. 10/10 would recommend. A picture of my rig for the class.
