I've seen some airsoft versions that have a bit of P-rail on the bottom, and if that could be done on a real gun I'd be all over it. A compact mini-laser like a unimax would be perfect for 0-50yd ranges. |

In the fence whether to order the standard one from recon while it's in Stock or wait for the threaded version. Wish I had picked up some mags now last time I was at the Creek. I'll be on the watch to see if there's any there this time.
I see czech point recommends foreign 7.65 vs SAAMI spec due to reliability. Can anyone comment on that? |

I've seen that warning on their website, but my vz61 has eaten ANY ammo I've fed it, except for HP, which I have never cared to try. I personally like Fiocchi or S&B, but I've never had an issue with anything I've tried. My local range only sells UMC, for example. It eats it right up (with a notably larger amount of fire from the election port). As for mags, keep a constant eye on GunBroker. I've scored an absolute ton on there for cheap. Edit: How cheap were they at KCR? |

I have only shot S&B, and GECO, and not one malfunction, works great. Buying through SGAmmo it is cheap to shoot. I do not know about the other calibers. Friday afternoon KY/TN time is when they update thier website, look then to buy. |

Yep. Those set screws are plugging the mounting holes for either the dovetail factory stock adapter, or the pistol brace adapter they just released.

This is interesting- Atlantic Firearms seems to have started carrying all calibers of vz61, all with arm braces and threaded barrel.

I've never measured, but I do have an airsoft vz61 to compare the front trunnion/snout of. Edit: The optic mount is a no go. The airsoft rear sight is held on with screws from inside the upper, the real guns have spot welds for the rear sight ear assembly. |

My threaded .22 conversion and threaded .32 upper showed up today. I'm pretty pumped to go try the .22 with a silencer (maybe tomorrow), but it seems that SilencerCo is still out mining the ore to make the 9mm suppressor adapter I paid for last week... |

How did you attach the rail?

I milled two flats on the underside of the upper after locating parts of the trunion with enough meat to tap into. Drilled and tapped into the flats M4x0.7 and bolted on a magpaul MOE pic segment that comes with those VFGs. I made a small Al standoff to keep the rail level.
I also blued the barrel (crappy 3rd party barrel), made a new barrel pin and drilled, pressed and pinned the new barrel in. It was a beat up upper from a gun show and and a barrel from a parts lot on GB. I kissed the pin ends with a 3/8 ball mill and gave them the red dot the czech guns get at the factory to compete the look.

Why is the barrel length the length it is? I'm getting mine threaded, could I also chop 3/8"? Is this an Allen key for disassembly? Attached File |

(See parts 7,8,9 on diagram first page of this thread) To get it apart, I use the leg of a standard size paper clip (a very tiny punch could work, if you want to be fancy). You'll want to push the detent down, via that hole, with your paper clip while pulling gently on the pin. With a bit of jimmying you'll be able to pull the pin out past the detent by a millimeter or so, then remove the paper clip and slide out the pin. You'll get a feel for it with practice. I highly recommend safety glasses and doing this in an area where you'll be able to find the detent once it launches across your room, because it will. Maybe not the first time, or second, but eventually it'll rocket away and become a distant *ting* sound somewhere across the room. Edit: It's extremely similar to the pivot pin detent on an AR, if you're familiar with those. |

So no harm if I wanted to trim the barrel a tad, say, flush to where the stock would fold forward? I will be SBRing it with the OEM stock

I'm not an expert on the blowback physics of force vs. barrel length, etc., but in my old age, I'm inclined to say "leave it alone since it currently works well." I don't think it would hurt anything, but for such a small difference it may not be worth it.
Two reasons to leave it: You'd no longer be able to use the stock loop as a sort of front grip, and two, it would preclude the use of a factory-style suppressor, but that's all I can think of. |
