I have a Century G3 clone and am thinking about scoping it and adding a wide handguard. POF has the wide hand guards with and without bipods. Can anyone comment on the quality of the H&K factory bipod? Is it worth $75 ? Or would I be better off getting the wide handguard without the bipod and putting a Harris bipod on instead? I'm also thinking about the B&T scope mount. DSArms has them for $104.00 Is this the best compromise between $$ and quality? Thanks, Brian |

I got the POF wide handguard and bipod for my PTR-91 and like it a lot. That said however, the bipod is not adjustable for height so the only "trick" it will do is allow you to cant the rifle from side to side as the bipod does allow the rifle to rock back in forth in its groove. For versitility, the Harris is probably better, but for looks, shits, and giggles, the POF is just fine. Tapco has a steel claw-mount that I have not heard anything bad about. I think it runs right at $100 and can be had with a Weaver base or Stanag. |

On my HK 91 I have the factory bipod, but I do not use it that much because you can not adjust the height. So what I did was I got another wide hand guard and mounted a sling stud on one of the two holes on the bottom of the hand guard. So now my harris bipod fits nice and flush. As for the B&T Mount I just bought a used HK 93 and the gun came with the mount on it. I love the mount, you can have the mount on the gun and use open sights or have a scope and you do not need to have a cheek rest. On my 91 I have the ARMS claw mount which I like but, I had to put on a E&L cheek rest because the scope sits up so high. Hope this helps Brian Chris |

Thanks for the replies. I just put an order into POF for the wide handguard without the bipod. UZI, can you tell me how hard it was to install the sling swivel in the handguard? Did it require and fitting or trimming of the handguard? I like the idea of being able to use the bipod on several guns but if it is going to be a hassle I may just order the factory bipod instead. I also just put an order into DSArms for the Brugger and Thomet scope mount and the Extreme Duty FAL mount too. I don't have any quality glass yet so I'll put a 3-9 bushnell on the G3 and see how accurate she is before dropping some cash. Big Bore, I looked at the claw type mount and decided to go with the B&T because it doesn't require an elevated cheek rest. I was also worried about getting one of the airsoft type mounts that have been floating around. I'll post some pics in a week or so when the goodies arrive. |

Brian, I have not been on the site for a bit sorry for the late reply. I had a gunsmith install the sling swivel, what he did was drilled out on of the two holes that are on the bottom of the handguard. He told me that he wanted to "beef" up the swivel so he a fixed the swivel in the hole and then he had a small metal strip to the heat shield. It was not a big deal, he was done in a hour. The bipod fits nice and flush. Let me know if you have some other questions, I have some pics of my 91 with the bipod and the forearm, but I have not taken one with a digital camera. If need any other help let me know and I will try to snap a couple pics. Chris |
