Does anyone make a FAT .22 can that can be taken apart? I am looking for something that would possibly go on an AR with a .22 conversion.

The G522 from GEMTECH is targeted right at that "mini-AR" form-factor with the S&W M&P1522, Spike's uppers, etc. Something of a hybrid of a "micro G5" with it's quick disconnect flash hider mounting system and look, and our well-respected MK9k suppressors in coaxial assembly method that is easily taken down for cleaning, if desired. It disassembles easily, lots of volume for rapid fire applications and great sound reduction. As far as the "fat" - the G522 is 1.375 in diameter, which gives a more correct look for the .22lr ARs than the pencil-thin .22 pistol can look.

can the suppressor be taken down to its individual baffles? if not then you wont be able to effectively clean it and we would have to send the unit back for new baffle stack. the only 22 suppressors i buy are made entirely of SS or other materials that will withstand the 50/50 dip.

Umm... the pic above shows the can disassembled - you can see that each baffle indeed can come out for a loving scrub with the ol' toothbrush dipped in WD40, and you can also see how it's a coaxial tube design disassembled: Those are all the parts as shown. I'll try to get a close-up photo of the innards up later for you.

Someone needs to re-post the pictures - please  Sir, I can do that for you. Here's a disassembly sequence of the GEMTECH G522. You can see that it's all easily taken apart - first unscrew the endcap and outer tube from the mount and coaxial core. 
The baffles are housed inside the core-tube –– this may be loosened with common tools (no special pusher rods, tools to lose, etc.). 
After the encapsulator (the piece with the sort of "star shaped" tool inserts) is taken off, the baffles simply push out from the rear. 
The G522 is mostly 7075 aluminum, which is a very strong grade well suited for this purpose. Unlike Clinton I never smoked or inhaled pot, but I did have a beer when I was 25, and that led to many more beers. I'm originally from Illinois, but beer is something Wisconsin and I can agree on. I'm trying to drink less in the interest of greater cardiovascular conditioning at the moment though. All good things have -a- catch. Beer is just really good so it has several of them. The G5 22 looks nice. Benjamin Franklin was a great man who obviously had good taste and he said: "Beer is proof that God loves us and wants us to be happy." His physique, however, was a little worse for wear. |
