As I mentioned before here I am getting a crossbow. I have learned a decocking bolt is advised so I ordered one. Simple enough question, can a decocking bolt be safely and effectively be fired into water? How deep would the water have to be? Would the shallow (2 1/2 foot) end of a pool be deep enough?
If you think I am sexy now just wait until you find out I have full medical and dental.

Honestly not sure about shooting into water. Bring a cheap field arrow and use a decocking target when you get home/back to the truck.

OP, try one of these.  They screw onto one of your bolts, like a broad head.  About $14.

I use one of the cheapo bolts that came with the bow.  I pulled the nock and filled it with #9 lead shot so it is really heavy.

I just shoot it into the ground.  Doesn't go very deep.
