Hey guys,
Heres the question: Can I swap the front sight base from my bushmaster M4 to my dads colt Hbar 16inch? are the gas ports, pin slots and all that jaz the same? I will measure the actual diameter of the barrel under the FSB when I get home but I wanted to make sure it wouldn't be a problem.

Here is why: I want to put a 10 inch rain on my upper, and my dads colt FSB is a preban w/o a bayoney lug. SO I was going to cut down his FSB to fit under my 10 inch rail, and he would get a FSB w/ a bayoney lug on it! Win Win!!

What do you think? And thanks for you help in advance!

If the barrel diameter is the same, you should be good to go.

I can say with 99% certainty that no, it can not be done.

FSB’s are match drilled to the barrel. No two barrels are drilled the same.

You are probably wrong.  Yes, it will fit the diameter of the barrel, but I can guarantee you that the taper pin holes will not align.  No two barrels are the same.
