I don't know much about mounting a scope with a backup red dot sight.

Can anyone post pictures so I can get some ideas?

The mini optics are really nice for this... Here is a LaRue mount with a Docter Optic...







Same idea/mount different gun







Note the top one does not have protective ears around the Docter.  The bottom one does!



I run a Docter Optic on my MAX-11 and I would definately recomment buying a mount that protects these small optics for the small weight gain/cost.  Assuming they still make them that way as I have not shopped for a mount in a few years.

I like this. You keep the same head position and cheekweld, simply cant the rifle to acquire the dot. Plus the dot is closer to the bore, so your dot zero stays closer to the bullet path over a greater distance......

Nightforce with a mirco aimpoint.  This is just for show, but using a huge scope like this one isn't ideal.
