is the plastic insert that seats inside the extractor spring needed?
i lost mine cleaning the bolt!
and i know they will be next to impossible to find

BTW, you don't have to remove tjhe extractor spring to clean the extractor.  You should never remove it unless you need to replace the spring.

Thank you for your offer, but i have a parts kit on order (for just this occasion).
I rarely clean the bolt, only when the gun needs a good scrubbing.
actually my dog likes to pick up an chew any little item within reach.
after getting her to spit it out the extractor i notice the insert was gone.
and i surely aint going out in the yard tommorrow to look for it

I've got a little dog too, and every time I do anything I have to pickup the little parts or he steals them.
He'll sneak in and take the screws or whatever is laying there, take them to another room and hides them under my office desk.
Dambdest thing I've ever seen.

I have a surplus bolt that came without one that functions fine...
