Archived [ARCHIVED THREAD] - edgewater buffer

What are the proper components of an edgewater buffer?  A friend has one we were looking at and it only contains three parts which look like the parts of a Browning A5 buffer.  One of the rings is bent and not really circular.  Is there supposed to be a tube or spring inside the buffer assembly?  Thanks for any info.  RW
