I have a lathe, but I am pretty much a newb. I know basic stuff but how would you bore a barrel. How could you keep a bit or bar straight for 20"?? If I tried to make a hol that deep, something would go arye. Also, If anyone out there has any resources please advise. (always want to learn more.) I taught myself how to use the lathe on my own.
NOTE: I am not a rookie to guns. Have built several from parts, even made one from an 80%. Just getting into the major part of metalworking, not just assembling part.

Thank You.

That's not an operation you'll be able to run on a lathe.  You need to build or buy a barrel drilling and rifling machine.  As a start special drill bits are used drill the barrel out.  The rifling procedure is a bit more complex.  Have a look here to get a better idea of what you are trying to get into :)
