| does it matter what quality bolt i put in to my ar? i'm looking at possibly a dpms chrome bolt because it looks nice. but is the quality really different from say a colt bolt? |

The bolt and carrier are the backbone of the AR and suffer most of the abuse. We know COLT does thorough and expensive testing of their bolts so you can be sure no underlying flaws in the metal will sneak up and bite you at precisely the wrong time. Do the other manufacturers have as strict a quality control? There is no way for us to know that. Maybe some do. If you are looking to possibly depend on your AR in dire situations then I would not tempt fate and I would get the COLT. If not, there are plenty of good bolts out there. All my 11 uppers except two has a COLT bolt and carrier in them, so I guess I'm sold. |
