My Dad has a high standard flattop AR15 with a Barska reddot sight on it. He has been trying to get it zeroed in for the last week with no avail. He had a bushnell holosight on it before this and it was doing the same thing. He zeroes it at 25 yards which it zeroes fine. He then shoots a target at 100yards and doesnt even hit the paper. This has happened on both sights! Is there anyone out there that knows what he is doinf wrong?
I also have a high standard with an eotech system on it and I don't have these problems!

Any help would be appreciated.

You should zero at 50 yards.  Your POI should be less than 2" high at 100 yards.  It kind of sounds like dad's rifle might have other problems, though.

Red dot zeroed at 25 will put you over the top of a target at 100 yards.

It's a mater of scope height over the bore.

you should be shooting about three inches low at 25 yards to hit a target at 100 yards, with most of the red dot scopes.
