What I have so far.

Grizzly lower
DPMS LPK
Grizzly upper ( discounted blem)
Other upper parts are of unknown origin. They were donated to me by a friend.

The barrel was 16.25 inches when I got it and was an inch in diameter under the HGs. I spun it up in the lathe and trimmed the excess metal off. I cut it to 14" with a permattatched muzzle brake/compensator. It now has a pretty good balance to it and it doesn't weigh a ton like before.
I am working on a new spring/buffer assembly that will eliminate that sproingy sound when I fire it.

Looks pretty good except your handguard is on sideways.

The hand guards were placed in that position for a reason. When the hand guards are attached in the normal manner, the split between the halves is right where my thumb rests when I am firing. This is the position that I am going to use to mount the thumb actuated switch for the as yet mounted weapon light. Having a switch mounted on the seam would be fragile at best and a PITB everytime I wish to remove the HGs.
With the HGs mounted as pictured, I will have a solid platform for mounting the switch that will be easy to remove and replace when needed.
Another benefit to having the HGs mounted thus is the elimination of the mirage formed when the barrel heats up. In the normal manner of mounting, the cooling vents put the mirage right in the line of sight. I understand that the original designers placed the cooling vents where they did in order to create a chimney effect. I can achieve the same results by moving the vents to the side ( not yet done) and still accomplish my other goals.

Nice work...  I'll do that with my handguards when it rains.

Looking good!

What does it take to mount the handguards sideways? I've seen several pics of soldiers that have done it. Israeli maybe?

A couple of seconds with a file to remove just enough material to allow clearance for the gas tube. If you put a set on as pictured, it will become appearant where you need to remove material..

Well that's easy enough!

Thanks!
