I'm sure a lot of you guys remember 10 maybe 12 13 years ago when they came out with that belt-fed upper called the Shrike Made by ARES. It was a complete upper receiver with Barrel and attached to a regular AR-15 Lower and the Upper was belt-fed. It was pretty expensive and people were going crazy to be put on a waiting list to be able to buy one and the last thing I remember was they had some being sold and in private hands but not many and not sure if they went under or if they are still in business and looking for whatever info |

Awesome, I had no idea that changed their name. When they first came out with that belt fed upper it was the thing everyone was talking about it but they just very very slow to get them made and into the hands of the buyers so people were starting to get really aggravated because they did sell bunch of them but only had like 20 or 30 Mead after all that talk I didn't hear a single word since and I guess the fact that the name is changed had something to do with it. Thanks a ton for that info I truly appreciate it I'm looking forward to reading the info about what's going on with it now although it's not something I'm going to buy or can even afford right now |

Finally got fed up and requested a refund, which appeared in the form of a hand-written check with the perforations along the top like written on a checkbook in your wife’s purse. Made the whole exercise look shadier then ever and I was glad I got out. Amazed to hear the project still exists under a different name. |

Quoted: Wonder what percentage received what they purchased? I put a deposit down in 1998 and bailed-out in 2005 just for the fact that I changed direction and bought a 1919 instead. I went on the MM23E setup instead of the ares because I had a sear and thought it would be super cool. After several years, it came out and during the sandyhook..... I flipped it for double..which I regret. But I wanted in on the ARES.....everyone I know that did the deposit got it..... |

Like some others, I put a deposit down and waited for several years. I think it was obvious that he would lose money on every upper he delivered at the initial price, so his slow-walking the release was understandable, if not at all ethical. Also, I think he realized he didn't have the infrastructure to handle repair/service that would be needed for any new product. I asked for a refund when I sold off my M16s, and got it. Basically a 6-7 year interest free loan. |
