I have a 5.45 S & W. Are all lower components the same as the 5.56. I bought the rifle on the ammunition availability, but might want to convert back and forth. Are the options the same as the 5.56 rifles? I don’t see any difference; just want to be sure, as the mags are slightly different for the 5.45.

Your lower receiver is equipped with a stronger hammer spring for the 5.45 mil surplus ammo, otherwise it is identical to lower receivers supplied with 5.56mm. And yes, the magazine is different. C Products manufactures it for S&W, and is the only current available 5.45 AR magazine. You can buy C products 5.45 magazines from many vendors or direct from C Products. |
