Can anyone tell me the proper way to use a chamber brush?

Wet the chamber with a patch.
Pour some solvent onto the chamber brush.
Push chamber brush into chamber, use an in and out and a spinning motion to clean chamber and the area behind locking lugs.
Follow up with dry patches to get the residue out.

Stick it in make half turn and pull out and repeat. Dewey rod from brownnels works great

I flush the chamber with brake clean then clean the bore following the brushing

The key is to use a rod that's FOR a chamber brush, like the Deweys rod. A cleaning rod spins, but a chamber brush rod doesn't, which allows you to twist it in the chamber and clean the locking space between the lugs and breech.
