I recently came across an ad in the equipment exchange for an "Enhanced nickel teflon trigger assembly" being sold by Right to Bear Arms. After exchanging a couple of email with them, I soon had one in my hand.
For $40, you get a complete enhanced trigger and hammer assembly. The description from their webpage is very thorough. It gives the highlights, what's included, and a very good description of the trigger specs and effort put into manufacturing. A few key points from reading through it:
-This is designed around a mil-spec trigger
-Much attention to detail is given throughout manufacturing and selecting components
-They have done their research on when to do what step to make these consistent and reliable
-They have strict guidelines for the parts to ensure the pull weight is within their target range of no more than 1/2 pound variance
The package arrived USPS priority mail, two days after sending my information to Right to Bear. They don't bluff when they claim to have fast shipping. Upon opening the box, I found a sealed bag containing the trigger and a smaller sealed bag with the trigger assembly. It was packaged well and I liked how the trigger was in a separate bag so the finish wasn't damaged during shipping. Both the trigger and hammer were fully assembled as they would sit in the rifle - springs in place, pins in, and well lubricated. The finish on ALL components was incredible. I could tell the finish wasn't cheaply done and that care had been taken overall to ensure this is a quality product.
I installed this in a beater rifle that had a decent, but very basic mil-spec trigger already. I dry fired it a few times before removing to compare. The standard trigger I had before did NOT have a smooth pull. It hung up in several places, and while this is to be expected, it's nothing that would impress anyone.
After installing the new enhanced trigger, the difference was incredible. The pull is consistent, exceptionally smooth, and breaks cleanly. I was very pleasantly surprised at the performance from a $40 trigger. They don't advertise this as something that's going to compete with some of the big name target/competition triggers, but I feel that on a comparison level considering price, their advertising is well underrated. I would recommend this as one of the best value upgrades you could make to a standard off-the-shelf AR.
I had two other "enhanced mil-spec" type triggers available to compare this to. One is the ALG Defense QMS (about $45), and the other the ALG Defense ACT (about $65). The QMS is more of a basic mil-spec trigger with most of the grit removed from the pull, and the ACT takes it a step farther giving you the nicer finish, cleaner break, and very smooth pull. The trigger from Right to Bear in my opinion is very comparable to the ACT version from ALG Defense. They both have the upgraded finish, and in testing the pulls side by side, if I didn't know which trigger was in which lower, it would have been a guessing game.
Overall, I was very impressed with the trigger I received for testing. For the price, I think this is a very good contender for someone looking to upgrade their trigger in a duty/service gun, truck gun, or even just an AR they use for hunting or plinking. I'll most likely be getting two more of these to upgrade some of the other basic setups I have.
