Trigger Job > AR Discussions

Has anyone had any problems or disappointments with the "15 minute trigger job"? I am thinking about trying it on my second AR build. Any advice or recomendations? It is an Essential arms lower and a DPMS parts kit. Can't afford a match trigger right now!!!

I have yet to do it but another MO member here has and its really nice.

You can type "15 minute trigger job" into google search and it shows you step by step. I have heard that it works good but some say not to do it.

I would wait until you have enough money for a correct trigger. If you end up totally making a wreck of you present trigger then you will either have a unusable weapon or worse a unsafe weapon.

Add a touch of Moly lube on the contact surfaces and you're good to go. (I use MolySlide I got from Bushmaster a forever ago)

So what can I do to shorten the trigger pull?

There is a replacement pistol grip screw that has a set screw inside it that engages the back of your trigger. It takes out the slack. Brownells has them I think.

My other lower came with a set screw to take out the slack but this one doesn't.

I did it to two of my rifles and had no problems until lately. I must of gotten a batch of ammo with hard primers, and sometimes my gun didn't go bang. I've replaced the hammer springs in both and since then have had no further problems. If its a range queen or plinker its no big deal, but for a rifle that has to work, I'd say no.

Your lower with the set screw was most likely a SUPERIOR (that set screw adjustment is one of their plus points)

I did the 15 minute trigger job to 2 of my rifles, one a RRA 2 stage and the other a RRA single. For some reason the single won't fire Guat, but fires CCI 400 no problems and both triggers feel alot better than stock. Actually compared my single with a guys Colt with a JP and felt the same, clean break about 3+ lbs. I'm guessing by what the guy told me his is. Just wondering how long it will last?

Just spend the $35 or so it will cost to get Bill Springfield to do his magic on your stock trigger. You will not be disappointed.

I second the above..... he is getting all my FCG in the future. Great job, no muss, no fuss. And a great feel when he is finished.

I did just a little polishing on mine, and it has a nice clean crisp pull. I didn't mess with the springs though. Anyone else try it without doing the springs and have any problems?

Just got my 3lb job back from Bill and can't say enough good stuff ablout his work.
500 rounds down range and 0 problems. Very crisp pull with absolutely NO creep.

Go with Bill, cheaper and a great guy to deal with.

I did it to my rifle a while back and have no complaints. I don't bend the trigger spring leg though.

ETA: I had ywo trigger springs, a heavy and lighter one. I installed the lighter spring.
