Hey all,
I was wondering if some vendor had an AR-15 "tool set". Looking for barrel vise jaws, lower magwell vise insert, upper vise adapter, pin punch set, etc. You know, basically to build up uppers and lowers, etc. Any leads? I was going to buy a Varmint style completed upper receiver, but I'm on medical leave from work, so I was thinking of buying the individual components and assembling myself. Thanks, Brandon |

Bushmaster offers several levels of armorer's kits. They also sell the individual tools, which is the route I chose.
I will also heap praise upon them for their selection of Starret brand Pin Punches. These have been some of the toughest, highest quality punches I've used. I've built entire guns with the following: - Bushmaster's pin punch set - Bushmaster's CAR telestock wrench - Bushmaster's Govt issue barrel wrench (which I love, because it's not covered in crappy hammertone paint like those all-in-one tools) - DPMS claw upper receiver holder...for barrel work (the Bushmaster action block will work fine, I'm sure) - Bushmaster's magwell vise block. Not necessary, but a nice way to hold the lower while doing stock work, or assembling the trigger group) - Craftsman beam torque wrench, screwdrivers, and snap ring pliers (you can skip the torque wrench, if you know what 30 lbs-ft feels like) - Small hammer - electrical tape, to prevent marring And get the Bushmaster DVD...no kiddding. Books are great, but watching their gunsmith do it, shows you how do-able it really is. |
