my question...  The issue is cost effectiveness.  I also have to keep the rifle NJ legal (no flash supp, no bayo lug, 16" barrel, pin the collapsable stock,  and overall over 26".  I think that's it.  Oh yeah, I also have to sell my soul also to the People's Republic of New Jersey.   hat
Is it worth it for me to buy a complete  rifle and change everything out or get a lower stripped receiver, trigger system, complete upper with my rails and stock?

I was thinking of starting with a Mega lower and everything else would come through research that would be a compromise for cost effectiveness and performance (sort of middle of the road stuff).  I want to be able to bolt everything up and not require a gunsmith.

Any help is greatly appreciated as I need a kick in the A@@ from an experienced AR guy to get me started.

I have bought complete rifles and changed everything, I have bought stripped lowers and built them up, I bought high end custom rigs.

All cost me about the same. The reason being, the AR is so adaptable and upgradable, and it is in our nature to tinker.

I say go stripped and build it the way you think you want it. It will be cheaper this way at first. Then you will swap out things, upgrade here and there as you have disposable cash.

Ok cool.

My concerns are also everything fitting properly.  I hear horror stories of rail systems not being compatable, mi-spec and non mil-spec, gas tubes hard to install/remove.

I'd like to start building everything but the lower receiver (I am waiting for my new permit because I just moved.)

I'd like a Mega Lower and Mega upper but want a complete upper.  I'm researching that now....

I wish I had disposable ca$h...
