I like the FN CHF barrel but am not a fan of the billet receivers. Also find it strangely ironic that a "minuteman" rifle comes with no iron sights....
IMHO, seems a bit pricey for what it is. I've bought complete uppers from AIM which are similar (with a NiB carrier, rail, and FN CHF barrel) for under $650. Pair that with a complete lower for $200 or less (if blem) from PSA and you basically have the same rifle for half the cost. |

As an industry standard it seems to be very common for an optics ready rifle to come with no sights. That's so the end user can choose what they want for a sighting or optic system. Right now I run a scope on mine, and since it is a range gun, I have no sights on it, they are not needed. Certainly MI is not the only company selling a rifle with no sights in this price range. You may be able to buy rifles for less money. But this one contains high quality components. The fit and finish are top notch. No blems here. CHF is over-rated IMHO, since most will never wear out a non-CHF barrel. It is less expensive then a Jack carbine, and is certainly price competitive with a lot of guns out there. Considering the average plain Colt 6920 is still hovering around $1,000, and most other top flight guns are in the $1200 - $1500 range, the price is not bad. This is my first rifle in billet, and I'm very happy with it. In the end its the way the gun performs, and your satisfaction with it that matters. Price and or value will vary from person to person, but functionality is universal. And did I mention that it shoots well? It really does. |

It's not supposed to be an "optics ready" rifle, or a target rifle. It's supposed to be a "minuteman" rifle, ala militia. Durable dedicated iron sights are the backbone of marksmanship ala the Appleseed shoots (also why the marines are so anal about teaching proper shooting techniques in field positions with irons out to far distances, and why they still stick with 20" guns).
If this is just supposed to be an optics only rifle, then fine. It just irks me to have them call it a "minuteman" rifle. And for that price you should get some basic iron sights with it anyway, even if it is optics only. |

They never said it was. But if you want it to be, put some irons on it and have at it. I'm sorry you don't like the name. |

If MI was to add a set of sights on each rifle...it would raise the cost of course....but being that "Sights" are a very "Personal" thing they allow the owner to pick their own...and as what was said, they do offer an option for a sight set.... When sights are on a rifle when bought....alot of the time the are removed and replaced with the owners Preferred sights or brand.... For instance...I know several people who have bought rifles with the Mag Pul sights...and either sold them or thrown them in a parts box....and replaced with their preferred brands.... I have 3 other ARs...none came with sights... As for Optic ready...well it is...if you so choose to go with optics.... As for the name Irking you...well that sounds like a personal problem.... This rifle is a "Ready Rifle"....ready for the owner to make it what ever they want....and serve them well... Now what "Irks" me...is that most likely you have never seen one, other than the vids....let alone handled it or shot it... So that being said....it clearly tells me what you are actually doing on this thread.....Trolling. Go nit pick the OBR....Optimized Battle Rifle....it doesn't come with sights either...so how can it be called a Battle Rifle... Have Nice Day... SASS |
