I completed my Double Star lower receiver this evening.  I am happy with how it turned out.  I used a DPMS parts kit and everything went together well with the exception of the takedown pin.  When I installed the detent and tightened down the stock, I couldn't budge the takedown pin.  I filed off the front of the detent and it works now but doesn't "click" into place when closed and is a little loose.  The detent keeps it from falling out.  Has anyone had this problem and how did you fix it.

Have Fun,

Geof

The front of the detent is tapered , maybe should of shortened the spring a bit . I have noticed a difference in some detents , some just seem to work better than others . But the DPMS kit I used worked fine . Replaced some with Bushy's detents and they were very smooth .

I thought about trimming the spring but I didn't have another spring.  A detent I can make from a drill bit.  I may have to to get it to work correctly.

Try turning the detent around.  Both ends should be tapered.

I tried turning the detent around.  The pin itself may be out of spec.
