Left is the loadout and prize from Legion, right ColaWarrior Bluegrass night run in the same weekend. 3/81 in 5k Light Fighter. I think I had the second fastest shoot score. I've not really looked at results that much in years, as it just really doesn't matter to me. That being said, the last two OED matches I've shot, they have gone back to a paper score card that you carry with you throughout the match, and then turn in at the end. It has your start time, wait times, stage times and end time all written down. As someone who has MDd a match using this scoring method, it's a pain and very easy to fat-finger something when you have to do all the math on the back-end. It also takes a while to get scores out, as you have to spend hours poring over poorly-written, smeared, wet score cards and upload the raw data into a spreadsheet, and this is AFTER you spent the last three full days setting up, running and tearing down a big match--it's a tremendous amount of work. But I guess their electronic method wasn't working as well as they wanted, so...back to paper. ETA Just to be clear, I'm not angry or annoyed at OED or any match about their scoring. Most shooters have no idea what goes into setting up and running/scoring a match, or volunteering to be an RO at a match--they (MDs & ROs) ALL have my deepest thanks. While USPSA-like accurate scoring would be nice, we just aren't quite there yet with this type of game. |

OED had a reputation for solid scores, and then I know they went through a rocky patch where scores were wildly random. I thought they were working through it though. The best, most impressive scores I've seen are at Knickerbocker RnG near San Angelo. The runners carry their card, and each stage has a paper backup. When you get to the finish line, you give the card to the lady on the laptop and she inputs your scores, and then gives you the card back and reads them back to you. At this point, you and the finish line have agreed on the inputting of your scores, and they can radio a stage if something is unreadable or whatever. The spreadsheet is live-streamed on their website, so you can track your ranking throughout the day. When the last runner comes in, they put in his scores, and then immediately walk over to the prize table and start awards. It was 100% accurate and very fast and smooth. I was impressed. |
