I know there was a list somewhere around here. I looked around here and online and cannot find who the square forge code is. It's just a simple square.
Anyone know it off the top of their heads?? Just picked up two new flat top uppers and one's a keyhole and one's a square. |

Here is your list... I don't think it is going to help you though. A (splintered) = Anchor Harvey Aluminum AF = Alcoa Forge C AF = Colt Alco Forge C MB = Colt / Mueller Brass Cardinal (stylized) = Cardinal Forge CH = Colt Harvey Aluminum Circle/Crosshairs w/"AR" = ArmaLite CK = Colt / Kaiser Aluminum CM = Colt / Martin Marietta D (stylized) = Diemaco DK = Diemaco / Kaiser Aluminum E = Emco EK = EMCO/Kaiser E MB = EMCO/Mueller Brass F keyhole = FNMI / Cerro Forge FA = FNMI / Anchor Harvey FK = FNMI / Kaiser Aluminum FM = FN/Martin Marietta FMB = FNMI / Mueller Brass Keyhole = Cerro Forge L = Lewis Machine & Tool LK = LAR / Kaiser Aluminum LM = LAR / Martin Marietta M (under diamond) = Mueller Industries PA = Capco / Anchor Harvey PM = Capco / Martin Marietta __________________ |

Is Brass Aluminum Forging Enterprises new to the AR game? The DTI kit I just got in today had the square forge mark on the flat top upper, and the removeable carry handle. The last kit I got from Delton about 4 months ago had the more commonn keyhole forge upper.
I'll have to bring my calipers home from work and take some measurements on the new upper - if anyone can point me in the right direction for references. Sorry, don't mean to hijack the thread. |

From KELBEAST earlier today on another thread.

I don't think the forging is a great of concern as most think it is. Sure you want to have a quality forge, BUT the TRUE quality of the final component is the manufacturer that does the final machining - these are the people and processes who put the holes in the right or wrong places, get the holes to spec or over spec, cut threads to spec or out of spec, etc... Sure you have to start out with a quality base (forge) but what happens during the rest of the process can make it or break it.
Good analogy is building your house and worrying about what lumber yard cut the 2x4's when what REALLY matters is the crew who does the framing that determines if your walls are straight, corners square, doors & windows fit, etc.... ..... |
