Any feed back on the pro's or con's of the Springfield Armory scopes out there.Maybe any pics mounted on AR's?

I had a 4.5-14x40mm scope that was pretty decent, but a friend of mine went full-tilt and bought their top-o-the-line gen III whiz-bang scope for his M1A, that went less than 50 rds fired before the scope literally fell apart on the rifle. I have read many more bad reports on SA scopes than good.

I had a 2nd Gen 4x14x56 with the range finding recticle.Glass was ok but it was big and heavy. The recticle was way too cluttered for me also.I sold it quickly. As stated above you'll hear more bad than good about them so buyer beware.

My GenIII never tracked correctly, and my buddy's broke after one box of .308 through his 700P.

I sold mine for a Leupold, the Springfield was a mistake.

I had a SA 4.5-14x56 with the bullet drop and mil-dots.  I had good luck with it, firing 500 rounds of 308 through it.  However, I think I got the exception, and not the rule, in terms of quality.  I sold that scope and bought a Leupold instead.  SA is completely out of the optics business now, and that should tell you something.  Yes, they have a lifetime warranty (for the original owner, don't know about subsequent) but I figure it was costing SA so much money to honor that warranty, they bailed on the project.

I suggest saving your money and getting something else.  They look feature rich and a good value for the price, but that is all smoke and mirrors.  If you need a cheaper scope, I think the SWFA Super Sniper series is decently regarded.

I got the 1st gen 4-14x56 for my M1A ... well it was way too much to handle... so I went back to good olde iron sights on the M1A (and love it so much more with NM sights).  I took the SA scope and put it on my 700PSS (.308) where it has been serving me well.

I also have the .223 version on my 700VSF, but am thinking about selling that (700) and getting a target bbl AR upper to put the scope on.

I haven't had problems with my SA scopes, reading what I have, I probably wouldnt buy another... Instead, I'd go with an IOR, Leupold or a Nightforce (there are a few others that would fit the bill)

my advice is to buy the BEST that you can afford (unless it's inferior) if you have to wait a bit more, it'll be worth it.
