I noticed today that on our straight NHMTG and Colt 20s, the springs are oriented so that the first coil goes to the front of the magazine follower, while on our 30s (Lancer, MP, etc.) the first coil goes to the rear of the follower.

I understand from the FAQ that there is a right-way and a wrong way, so why the difference?

ETA:  I always thought that putting the first coil to the rear made more sense.
