I'm trying to dig up some info on rear sight bases but can't find anything that gives me concrete information.

All I need to know is if the rear sight base on a "Colt" carry handle is the same as a A2 rear sight base.  I know the markings are different and that the NM rear sight base has a different thread.

Thanks

An A2 (fixed carry handle) rear sight assembly is adjustable out to 800 meters, while the sight assembly on an A4 (detachable carry handle) is only adjustable out to 600 meters.

AFAIK, it is not the same. A3 is for the carry handle.

This is the right answer.  Detachable carry handles are regulated differently than A2's.  I think A3 and A4 are both correct designations for flat tops.

An A2 sight assembly will not fit a removable carry handle. The screw that goes down through the handle is too long. Is longer on a fixed handle A2 upper.
