Hi all.

I have a Daniel Defense which has the 1.5 rear fixed sight and a standard front sight.  I have been looking for a good red dot sight to put on top but I can't afford an aimpoint or eotech.

I ran across a deal on this guy but I am red dot sight ignorant.  http://www.google.com/products/catalog?q=Trijicon+RedDot+Sight+ms03&oe=utf-8&rls=org.mozilla:en-US:official&client=firefox-a&um=1&ie=UTF-8&cid=3445710228103207555&sa=X&ei=N3GkTdCzPLSQ0QHTlMn5CA&ved=0CCoQ8wIwAg#

Will this sight co-witness with my sights?
Will I need a mount to raise the sight up to do a co-witness?

Thanks,
New

WHAT KIND OF RDS?

Sorry, again ignorant and somewhat new to optics....

What's an RDS?

From looking on the net it appears I would have to have a raised mount.  This thing is fairly small and is often shown mounted on top of an acog?

Thanks,

Check Primary Arms for decent, inexpensive red dot sights. I bought a PA M3 and it's worked great. Not something I would use on a work rifle but good for most other needs.

That sight has a 8 MOA dot.  That may be a little larger than what you want (it will cover around 8 inches of your target at 100 yards).

For the price I would look at the Aimpoint Pro or the various Primary Arms red-dots (much cheaper)...
You can also find used Aimpoints and Eotechs in the Equipment Exchange for great prices.

You would definately need a riser, a mount (like the irondot) or a raised rail (like the Cas-el or ARMs Sir) to be able to use a red dot. Its too low to use on the flat top alone.

I'm not a big fan of mini-RDS on ARs.  Save the extra money for this.  It's a real Aimpoint and even includes the mount.  Killer battery life and a 2MOA dot too.
