OK, was at the ranch loading the deer feeders when we saw a sounder of 14 hogs running inline  We didn't have a gun with us (dumb) and even if we did it would be in the rack & couldn't have gotten it in time. I figured I needed a very compact easy to grab & shoot a lot of rounds rifle at the next surprise opportunity. Being a lot of rounds I'd need to protect my hearing so.... I thought of an old project I've done in the past mostly for plinking that I could revise into this use. I built a DIY Ar-15 Bullpup that had a 16" barrel & forward muzzle break. I also have a (Form 1) modular suppressor with different size baffles for different caliber rifles. I got my 16" SS barrel back from the gunsmith who lathed it to where the suppressor's 5/8"x24 endcap will thread on to the barrel right in front of the gas block. The suppressor will be integral with the barrel with gas ports at baffle points as well as 4 baffles past the muzzle like normal. This will serve many needs when finished... Very compact, suppressed, easy to grab - flip off safety - fire many rounds, will have iron sights as well as a red dot (not laser). Update: Was at the range this morning & all worked great with the bullpup. I'm not used to a red dot sight on a rifle shooting at a paper target so it took me a while to zero it in. With the red dot covering most of the target's bullseye it yields a bigger grouping than with a scope's crosshairs. I got a 6" 6 shot group so for quick multiple hog shots vs a precise hunting shot it will do. The open sights are just for backup. Anyway, I'll be prepared the next time the hogs give me a surprise opportunity.

That's right... The tube rests on the shoulder & the stock's butt is against the shoulder like normal. The weight is less noticeable to the hand grips because of the tube on top of the shoulder. It wouldn't be the best option for all cases & applications but for a compact easy to grab & shoot while going around the ranch it serves my needs real well. I was out there yesterday & it was so much easier to 'keep handy' while in the ATV.

Went to the range today. Wanted to adjust the zero... 3" bullseye on a big sheet of paper, group needed to be moved over to the right but height was ok. Seeing it was at 50yds my aim point was the red dot so it will be good for 100+. Rapid fire multiple shots at running pigs it won't be an inch or two scope adjustment that will screw things up.

OK update (for those who might care) This weekend at the ranch I had my bullpup hog gun handy in the ATV when a small hog got startled & ran into the open field. We stopped, I switched off the safety & started blasting at the running pig. Popped off 8 or so rounds & dropped the pig. Drove over & success my AR Bullpup Hog gun has had it's 1st test & it worked great. I'm a happy camper  Note: These were the exit wounds.
