I picked up a Magpul M93A from the EE last year and it is in great shape and time to add it to a build. That said it has a cool multicam paint job that is really well done and seems to something "better" than rattle can. Due to the fact these are probs getting close to 15-20 years old I suspect it was finished in Dura coat or similar. A few questions, any easy way to remove a finish and not screw up the polymer below? I have been looking into the dry ice blasting they are doing on cars these days and it seems promising. I assume a walnut shell or bead blast would be too aggressive but I am no expert on the process. Also there is a small crack on stock about 1/2" in length in total, not sur if it goes to the other side, it is a hairline crack and I am unsure if I want to try to fix it or leave it. Any tips? So... I find comfort in the fact that if Trump has to work so hard to go to Heaven, then there is a shit load of Democrats that have no f-cking chance to go anywhere but HELL. Sometimes it is entirely appropriate to kill a fly with a sledge-hammer.

Attached File Sooooo....okay. To get us back on track, here's mine, made by Ergo, on a 10 inch Aero Precision 300 Blackout. The M93 definitely offers its own vibe different than other stocks. If I were trying to refinish it, you might want to look into putting a finish over what's there instead of stripping. Under the best of circumstances polymers do funny things when exposed to solvents. Who knows what ot would do to a stock that old. Just a thought. |

Love the 93, have one on a 12.5" 358 Winchester SBR build. Looks like where that crack is, someone probably used the stock as a whackin tool, and hit something at the wrong angle. Won't affect rigidity or function of the stock being back there. Like others said, I'd use epoxy and a clamp. Then sand it smooth after. I'd restore the whole thing by running it through the blast cabinet with something fine grit. I've done one that way myself to prep it for Cerakote. If you can get all the paint off, and expose the raw nylon again, then all you'll need is some Rit dye and a stock pot of boiling water ... will look good as new. |
