I was picking up some .223 75gr Red Box TAP this past weekend and had a box of something else mixed in with it.  It's Hornady part #83276.  The box says .223 REM 55gr TAP.  The rounds have a red plastic tip on the bullet.  Does anybody know exactly what these are.

Thanks

Essentially a varmint round designed to mushroom and not overpenetrate.  Not nearly as effective on human targets as FMJBT or HPBT OTM rounds.  Read the ammo-oracle for more info.  If you want an effective TAP round go with the 75gr.

Thanks, the 75gr is what I was buying, but there was a box of this mixed up with it.  I was wondering if I should stash it or shoot it...sounds like I'll shoot it.
