I checked under the "Building a lower"  But want to clarify this before tearing apart my rifle again.

About a year ago I added a magpul stock and HK style sling adapter to my Bushmaster Super Light.  I've put lots of round through it with no problem, but somehow in that process I lost the spring that holds tension on the rear takedown pin, so it can come all the way out.  (yes I'm an idiot for not paying attention)

After looking at the building a lower post, it looks like that spring is inserted from the rear.  Does anyone know if the only thing holding the tension on that rear take down spring is the sling adapter/plate?  Also does anyone sell just those springs or would I be better off just buying a complete spring replacement kit?

You need a spring and detent.  The take down and pivot pins use the same ones - different manufacturers list them differently.

Take your end plate back off.  Insert you takedown pin in it's hole with the channel towards the rear.  Insert a detent, then a spring in the hole under the end plate.  Reinstall the end plate which compresses the spring and detent causing tension on the takedown pin.

If you are ambitious find the rear takedown modification thread.  Thread that sping/detent tunnel with a 4-40 tap then use a 4-40- x 1/8 set screw to hold the spring and detent in place.  You will never loose one again.

Yes the plate hold the spring in place and you can buy just the spring ! Check with some of the site sponsors !

Thanks for the clarification.  Figured this to be the case.  I did find the post on it like you said under the AR15 Disscussion FAQ.  Thanks again

Check into PK Firearms, a sponser to this site. They have very FAST and reliable shipping. Also the parts are cheap and often lost, so get 2 or 3 each of the detents and detents springs, they are very good to have on hand....<><....:)
