I just ordered a used Aimpoint Comp M2 that will come with
a QRP mount.

Now, I reading that I need a mount spacer to get any type of  co-witness

with my back up sights?

Is that correct?

Thanks.

If it is a complete QRP mount it should come with a spacer and longer bolts to give you a lower 1/3 cowitness. The spacer looks like a saddle and goes inside the ring, under the body of the RDS.

Without spacer installed:

Found this photo of the item with mount.

It doesn't appear to have the spacer.

Can I use the optic mounted on my flattop carbine as is,

or do I also need the spacer for proper cheek weld?

It's usable if you have flip up BUIS, but not optimal.

WITH the spacer, the cowitness is absolute, so without it your irons will be in the upper 1/3 of the window. If you have a fixed FSB, it will obscure quite a bit of your sight window.
