I'm looking for an upper with a 10 inch barrel that has a hand guard and overall appearance like the photos bellow. I'm assuming since these are DPMS uppers I could get better quality else where hence the reason I'm asking. I'm pretty much looking for an 10 inch barreled upper that is a clone of the Colt 6720.
What are your recommendations? Just go with the DPMS upper and be done with it? Where can a get a reasonably priced pistol buffer tube?

Confused as the lower picture appears to be a 7 inch BBL with 4" handguard.
Anyway I just recently built something on a BCM upper similar using Ares Armor barrel,, gas block and gas tube. That upper looks like a 7" or 7.5" upper with a 4" free float tube such as from Rock River Arms.
My DPMS 16" lightweight carbine has been great. I would by another. However, I don't buy complete ARs any more. I buy lowers, complete them the way I want,and buy uppers to complete them way I want. |

The answer here is almost always a link to a PSA product.
If you want better than DPMS, that's not hard to do. Generally you get what you pay for, so if you want to buy once "and be done with it," then I'd look at Colt and LMT. I think BCM is all 11-11.5" and up. The LMT will be 10.5 I think (common). I don't know about Colt's short barrel upper selections. DD, Noveske, and maybe even KAC will have great 10"-ish uppers. |
