1. They were advertising that it came with the scout rail, it didn't. After a couple of calls they agreed to credit my account with $90 in Midway bucks which is fair and was fine with me... I order from them at least weekly.
2. When I mounted the upper to the Stag receiver I noticed that the free float tube was off center where the barrel exits at the gas block. I mounted a Tasco Custom Shop scope with 2 sunshades that equaled the length of the float tube to see if the float tube was off center. I leveled it on a bipod and draped a fine chain over the sunshade to check the free float tube's alignment to the receiver.... it appeared correct. Then I measured the barrel deflection at the gas block to the free float tube, viewed from the muzzle: Left .500", Right .320"......
I emailed AA, they will have it picked up and solve the problem at no cost.... which is fair. I just don't want to deal with this and returned the upper, dies, and ammo to Midway for a full credit today. I'm out shipping both ways, so be it.
On the positive side, I have an AA Beowulf that I'm very happy with.
All manufactuers will have problems, as long as they are willing to make it right they are OK. This isn't a bash on AA or Midway. They both are willing to correct the problem.
Check what you buy.

This may sound dumb but ... does the post that the bipod is mounted on extend into the free float. Hitting the barrel and pushing the handguard off center?

It's a standard Burris bipod mounted to the tube's mount. There isn't any contact from the manufacturer's stud.

Does it matter to accuracy if the free float tube is deflected like that? Just wondering because I've seen home assembled uppers like that - the bad thing there was that the front sight was mounted on the mis-aligned tube...
