I don't know if it is in my head or I saw a picture of an AR like this...Upper, lower, and barrel  painted/coated in an alum or silver type color then all other parts mil spec black; i.e charging handle, port cover, all pins, rear sight assy, front sight , and funiture.  I am building an AR just for messing around and thought I would do something different.
What do you think?

Thanks!!!!  That is exactly what I was looking for.  Like I said I don't know if I saw this before or it was in my head but I like it!  I hope to build/finish one like this at some point soon.

Anybody seen any done in a matte silver finish?  I really like the color, but I'd like one that didn't have the shine/reflection of the gloss.

Colt was running the "marine finish" on a few of their ARs in the past,
however the name of the finish escapes me.

Anyone care to elaborate?

Check out "ARin's" AR in the "build it yourself" section, under "my first build". The color on his is perfect.
