Good eye on it being an SP1 receiver, but shouldn't the forging on an Sp1 receiver line up with the lower receiver underneath the port door? This one doesn't. The pivot pin hole appears to be large.

It is a "large Hole" upper

To my knowledge, not necessarily. I'm sure someone intelligent will be along to straighten me out soon.

I accidentally made this post in the wrong forum...twice. But I think I've got it this time.

I've got a Colt hbar on an older DPMS upper. One of my co-workers has been after me for months so I can sell him this but I'm not really sure what it's worth. What do you guys think?

My honest appraisal for this would be about $280-$290. That's figuring $100 for the upper receiver and $180 for the barrel assembly.

That sounds about right. Tack on another $125ish for a BCG and CH.

Colt car h/g's

How much is a set of them worth?
I am sure that I could get 15$ plus shipping, however I am only selling them because Its to fund more important projects, meaning I need as much as possible while still being fair.
I thought that ive seen them go for 40$ before. I will show pics this evening.

What would be the hive's appraisal of this arsenal refinished 601 upper with 1/12 Colt MV barrel?

Link Posted: 4/6/2011 8:40:03 AM EDT
[#12]
If the upper has that heavy dark or black kind of textured finish?, without the correct sight wheel and port door it may go under $200. On the barrel I just got my poop chewed for wanting to cut one for a 605 build, so I would say A "MVP" is around $310.00 or so. The funny thing about price is it depends on whether your selling or buying. Sometimes you have to read between the lines.

So, I've never seen an original 601 / 602 pivot pin for sale. I ran across one at a gun show today, the shank had some finish wear, but the exposed ends were 100%. How much are they worth?

How much is this old 602 barrel worth, the HG cap could stand replacing. That's minor.  Has the NICE old FSB with raised letters and Arrow. Correct barrel extension stamped 'C'. '12' marked about 1 inch from muzzle on the underside.  Bore is 99%.  Has the original straigjt 'D' ring, no flash hider. Overall an excellent barrel?  Any clue as to it's value?

I'm looking at a SP1 that has been modified. And since it has been messed with, I'm only interested in the value of the parts.

Somewhere along the way, somebody milled off the carry handle & mounted a Simmons scope (some old model I've never seen before with some sort of on/off switch on the eyepiece). Plus somebody installed a muzzle brake, FF tube, & a rubber buttpad that adds about 1 1/2" or so to the lop. Oh yeah, & they cut down the FSB as well.

Otherwise, it seems to be in good shape. It's still gray, no nicks & very little wear that I could see on the finish.

It has a "C MPH CHROME BORE" barrel, 5 digit serial#, and I'm sorry that I forgot to write it down. I also don't have any pics, sorry again.

And like I said, I'm mainly just looking for parts. I have a R6500 SP2 upper that I can't get to work right on any of my standard lowers, even with the offset bushing. So I figured that this lower would make a good home for it, even though it wouldn't be correct. And I might put the pencil barrel on the 6500 upper while I'm at it too.... just pondering things....

Maybe $700-800 for parts?  ~$300 for the stock (if original aluminum), maybe $400 for the complete lower to a preban state.  The barrel is pretty much hosed for retro value if the FSB is shaved.

I don't think I'd fool with it unless it's a screaming deal.

I am trying to help a guy on another forum with the value of an upper he has. It is a standard 604 receiver, but it has an early bend gas tube and the barrel has a "12" up near the muzzle. Just trying to get a value on this. Here are some of the pics he posted.

What about no drain hole h/g's?

Hey guys, I'm a fairly new member. I bought this Colt SP1 about a year ago. I am going to be shipping August 2nd for the Navy as a Seabee CM, and I figured I could get some practice cleaning, assembling and firing one of these before A School (Trying to get every advantage so I can focus on whatever I can't prepare for). I have done FAR more cleaning than firing, as I live in lower NY by the NY/NJ border. Truth be told, other than practice for A School, this thing is useless around here. Can't go out and plink with it due to lack of facility or time to do so, and I haven't the heart to try and hunt anything with a .223 rifle. I have a .35 Marlin 336 to do that. If anyone could tell me what it is worth, it would be a real help. I negotiated the dealer to a $1,200 price tag when I bought it. How much has that value matured?

In the above photo, I have to note that the area above the pony and around the fire selector is just oil (Took these right before going to the range, I like to overdo the oil a bit before I fire it so that nothing has a chance to dry or jam). However in between the bolt release and the whole Firearms Division yadda yadda writing, that is black paint. Can't figure out for the life of me why it's there, but oh well.

ceekay,  Figure $750 max complete with an NDS lower.  Unfortunately they sell complete for less than build cost and are kinda hard to move usually.  Best way is to take it apart and sell the parts but more hassle.  The US barrel is a turn off for the collector,  but with a Colt barrel a later forge code clone still isn't selling.  Most would rather have a complete SP-1 for possibly a little more coin and they have gotten pretty cheap in present economy.  There is always the special buyer factor though.

In my opinion, it's worth between $230-$250 (depending on condition) without the original 2 position tube.

Looking at it, it seems to be relatively unused, it has a few light scratches that could just easily be handling marks. No major imperfections that I can notice. The finish is a semi gloss that does not feel like ordinary paint. Tube seems perfect other than light use marks. Pics ain't that great but it should give you an idea of what I'm dealing with here.

I am selling a complete Colt SP1 furniture set to fund some purchases for my 601 1/2 ( NDS waffle mag and duckbill FH) I thought gunbroker at first:  C marked A1 pistol grip, excellent type E stock, and Excellent triangular drain hole hand guards.  The set came off of the 70s SP1 that I used to start my project.  This is not a sneaky attempt to sell, I just have no idead what a fair price is for a complete matched set.
I saw Boywonder's on GB fo $65, but his is earlier stuff.  This is a nice matched finished set.

WTK Value of Colt 20 rd magazines

I am curious about these, Colt marked .223 and 5.56 marked 20 rounders. I found some old value guides but they were pretty out of date (2007 was most recent).

Cal. .223
COLT'S PT. F.A. MFG. CO. INC.
HARTFORD, CONN. U.S.A.

Others are identical but with CAL. 5.56 MM

Please note it is a bolt carrier with gas key only, no bolt firing pin or other small parts.   It shows some use, very minor, and has minimal carbon residue on the interior of the carrier but little if any visible wear on the raised portions of the carrier exterior.

Thanks

I just bought a plastic tub full of early M16 buttstocks, 8 with no trap door, 3 of the same length as the short ones, but WITH a trap door (what variant are those?). 1 of the plain ones has slight cracking around the butt heel area, but the rest are all sound and only show freckeling on the stock body material. All have rear swivels, one of which is slightly loose.  Some have unit rack numbers. Did I do OK for $43? What are they worth apiece?

Those are Type E, unless they're marked with "CS" on the stock body, then they're Canadian short stocks.

I'd like to get an approximate value on a really clean SP1 BCG. The carrier (C-marked) has very little wear on the bottom, and the bolt (MPC) has very little wear on the lugs.
Sorry for the bad closeup, but at least it gives you an idea of the finish on the bolt and carrier.

Finally making time to post in this thread.

I got a 20" pencil barrel A1 upper in trade recently and was wondering what fair market value was. The small push pin upper has a tear drop fwd assist, no forge marks but does have a small square with C inside and a triangle with something that I cant make out without a magnifying glass The barrel is marked "C MP C" on the bottom of th ebarrel in front of the FSB. No markings on the FSB that I can find. Has a flat slip ring as well. Assuming the barrel isnt shot out, whats a fair asking price for this upper? I have no idea where my camera is but overall the finish is fair, theres some wear on the high spot of the upper.

Figure $100-$110 for the upper receiver, $190-$210 for the barrel, and $20-$30 for the slip ring assembly, gas tube and such.

Edited to include quote.

Hmmm. no one answered.  I have seen them as cheap as $10 ( I bough about 100 at that price), but usually $13-$15, which is what I sold mine for.  The Colt with the 223 marking and aluminum follower are older and more desirable than the 5.56mm marked ones.

A local shop has a Colt SP1 with a four digit serial (552x) which puts it at 1966.

Didn't have much time to inspect, but looking at the stickied serial number thread, it had a hole in the selector lever, and the carrier had no FA notches. I'm suspecting it will have a chromed bolt as well (shop was closing, I was rushed, and didn't pull the whole carrier out). Oh, no butt-trap on the stock. Overall condition is excellent.

Printed out the features listed in the serial number thread, so will go back in a few days and do a thorough inspection. Gun is on hold for me.

The only negative is that there are two nasty gouges under the carry handle, caused by a scope mount. Perfect finish on the top of the carry handle. Didn't notice this until it was pointed out.

Price is $800, and it's a consignment gun so maybe I can get it lowered a tad. Is $800 fair?
